Florida car accident causes multiple fatalities, injures children

Seeing a driver swerving in and out of a traffic lane can cause apprehension for other drivers nearby. This is understandable as a car accident in South Florida could easily occur if a driver fails to maintain the proper lane. If a driver veers into oncoming traffic and collides with another vehicle, it is likely that serious injuries — or worse — could result.

It was recently reported that a Florida accident took place under similar circumstances. The driver of a vehicle carrying three additional adults and two children failed to remain in the correct lane and, as a result, crossed the center line and crashed into another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was reported as being a 22-year-old female, and she was apparently the only occupant of the vehicle.

The crash resulted in the deaths of both drivers as well as the remaining three adult passengers in the first vehicle. The two children in the first vehicle survived the accident but were seriously injured. The exact cause of the accident had not yet been determined at the time of the report, and authorities will likely continue to investigate the situation in order to determine what factors may have played a role.

Though the driver that crossed into the opposite lanes of travel also died in the accident, the families of the deceased victims may still be able to file wrongful death claims against that driver’s estate and any separate owner of the vehicle he was operating. Information on filing claims in such a manner may help interested parties who wish to pursue compensation in the wake of the fatal car accident. Successful claims may allow them to receive reparations for financial losses as well as other damages permissible under Florida law.
